Our writing and sketching journals are handmade using premium North American cowhide leather. The natural ends, brands and sometimes even small holes in the hides are utilized to create a rugged, stylish look. Leather strips, often cut from the same hide are used as ties to hold the books closed. Embellishments such as wooden buttons, bronze rings, and riveted pen pockets adorn many of the covers, while others offer a more simple or refined look.

Each journal contains four or five hand stitched signatures with a total of approximately two hundred to two hundred & forty pages. (With the exception being the large size journals which have half as many pages due to heavier paper.)

Acid free cotton paper, ideal for writing and sketching, and produced in North America is used in the majority of the journals. The large size Journals contain a heavier acid free paper suitable for writing, sketching, and scrapbooking.

Our journals are created with longevity and style in mind. They are unlike mass produced journals and should not be compared to them. Our journals will only gain character with age and become even more beautiful than when you first purchased them.

Small journals are approximately 6" by 4.5". They contain roughly 200 pages of archival quality paper which is suitable for writing and sketching. This is a great size for a travel journal, as it takes little space in your luggage but is still large enough to easily write or sketch. They are exactly half as big as the medium journals.

Medium journals are approximately 9" by 6" and contain roughly 240 pages of archival quality paper. These are our best selling journals, as they are a perfect size for writing and sketching.

Large journals are approximately 11.5" by 8.5" and contain roughly 140 pages of acid free card stock which is suitable for writing, sketching, photos or scrapbooking. This paper is much heavier than that found in our smaller journals. This is a great size for artists looking for a stylish one of a kind sketch pad. This size is also often used as a guest book.

Recently added iPad and book covers are made using the same high quality North American leather, and are designed using the same Venetian style. These covers are unique one of a kind creations that will protect your iPad, book, or journal while enclosing it in beautiful, rugged cowhide leather. Currently we only have covers that accommodate the iPad mini, or equal or smaller sized tablets. These covers can also be used to hold a writing journal or a book.
